School Bus Collector

Hello!
My name is Jason Leeth and I am from Washington Court House, Ohio. I am an
On-Board Instructor and Safety Manager for a large school district in
Southwestern Ohio. I was a school bus driver for 14 years and I have collected
toy and model school buses and memorabilia for over 25 years.
My interest in school buses began when I was a child. My grandmother was a
school bus driver for many years while I was growing up and I received my first
toy school bus from her as a Christmas gift.
I began writing to the various school bus manufacturers and dealers telling
them of my fascination with school buses. Many of them responded with kind
words of encouragement and with gifts. I received brochures, key chains,
calendars, videos, and even model buses.
In 1990, at the age of 14, our local newspaper published an article about my
bus collection. I had accumulated numerous pieces of literature, and 14 buses.
In October 1996, I was featured in School Bus Fleet Magazine. The article was
titled "The Fan" and included information and pictures of my collection. In
November 2008, I was featured on School Bus Fleet Magazine Editors Blog.
My collection has grown quite large over the years. I have received many of my
buses as gifts from family, friends, co-workers, and students who rode my bus.
I'm often asked "why school buses?" My answer is simple, "I grew up with
them." My grandmother drove a bus for 28 years, both of my parents drove for
many years, as well as two aunts and a few other family members.
I am currently a member of the National Association for Pupil Transportation
(NAPT) and the Ohio Association for Pupil Transportation (OAPT).
I hope that you enjoy the website. It is always nice to hear from other school
bus enthusiasts or fellow school bus drivers.
